The Missing Link is an object within the MAXXI object-container, which creates a mood within another mood. From the outside, the installation has the grandeur of a monument and the shape of an open ring, and represents the pathway of the human mind’s reasoning. When, from the outside, we pass into the installation, we perceive something very different. It is a hallway we must walk through, but it can’t be used to reach other rooms or other functions.
The Missing Link is a tunnel that starts in one place, develops into a wide curve and returns to the starting point. This gives us the feeling of journeying through an exploration.
